Local author wins second prestigious award for 1965 book
Local author Tony Howard has just received a second prestigious award for his book ‘Troll Wall’ which he wrote in 1965.
Written almost 50 years ago, the book describes the first ascent of Norway’s Troll Wall, Troll Wall is the biggest vertical rock wall in Europe.
Two other Saddleworth people, Margaret Birch nee Woodcock and Brian Woods were involved in the reconnaissance and climb along with three lads from Oldham and one from Manchester.
