Local History Open Days

A series of four local history open days have been organised for next month. The Saddleworth Voices project, which makes recordings of local people talking about their memories of our area, will be taking part in the events, supported by Oldham Archives.

Anyone with an interest in local history is welcome to go along. It’ll be possible to listen to some of the recordings already made as part of the Saddleworth Voices initiative, and you’ll be able to make a brief recording yourself if you want. The project organisers will also be taking appointments for longer interviews, so if you’d like to make a longer contribution you can arrange that too.

The first of the open days is on Thursday 9 September at Uppermill Library between 10am and 5pm. The following day’s event is at Delph Library between 10am and 1pm. On Saturday 11 September the open day is at Greenfield Library, again between 10am and 1pm. On the Sunday the event takes place at Saddleworth Museum in Uppermill, between 12:30 and 3:30pm

The organisers say they’d be delighted to see you there!
