The 4th annual Butterfly Awards took place recently at the end of Babyloss Awareness Week.

The Butterfly Awards celebrates and recognises champions and survivors of babyloss, and Remember My Baby won in the category of Cherished Keepsake. Launched just over two years ago, over 700 Remembrance Photography sessions have already been provided across the UK to families losing their baby.

Jude Gidney, a local photographer from Uppermill, Oldham has recently become a volunteer for the charity and is hoping to raise awareness of the work it does for bereaved parents.

Jude told Saddleworth News: “The charity does such fantastic work and I was more than happy to become a volunteer for them, hopefully we can help raise more awareness of the work they do.

“It is great to be able to use my photography in this way to help bereaved parents.”

Remember My Baby offers a gift of baby remembrance photography to all UK parents experiencing the loss of their baby before, during or shortly after birth.

Working with bereavement midwives and managers in maternity units, Remember My Baby’s volunteers have been able to offer some comfort and solace to bereaved parents in over 75 maternity units and NICUs across the UK.

Remember My Baby’s goal is to offer the service of baby remembrance photography to all parents suffering the loss of their baby in every hospital and birth centre across the UK.

When a family loses a lifetime’s potential for capturing milestones as their child grows, Remember My Baby Volunteer Photographers will capture images of a precious baby with parents, siblings and extended family for free. Each family will receive a ‘free gift’ of high resolution digital images with a licence to print for their own personal use.

Families can contact Remember My Baby, or the Volunteer Photographers directly if their hospital or birth centre does not currently promote the services offered.

You can find more information on the website at www.remembermybaby.org.uk.

Alternatively, if you are an NHS Trust and you would like to know more about their service and how to introduce the service into your maternity hospital or birth centre please email info@remembermybaby.org.uk.
