Lydgate Tea Party Helps Hospice
A Mad Hatters’ Tea Party has raised more than £6,200 for the Francis House Children’s Hospice. The event was held at the White Hart in Lydgate on Sunday, and was organised by Dobcross sub-postmaster Sukhi Singh.
The 140 guests enjoyed a champagne reception, afternoon tea, a supper with edible surprises, as well as music and dancing until later. There was also a charity auction and prize draw.
Sukhi, who dressed as the Mad Hatter from the latest Alice in Wonderland film, said the pub was turned into something “as wacky as you could get” for the evening, with giant props including oversized playing cards. He added: “Everyone really enjoyed it.”
The hospice, which is in Didsbury, was chosen by Sukhi because he “really liked what they do.” He said: “It’s where children go to spend their last happy days, so it’s a wonderful cause.”
More fundraising events are planned for next year. Sukhi will return to the White Hart on 21 May for a Bollywood comes back to Saddleworth event, called Slumdog Millionaires. He’s also aiming to stage another Mad Hatters’ Party in Cheshire, along with a winter wonderland party and a safari-themed dinner dance.
As well as working at the Post Office in Dobcross, Sukhi is organising parties like Sunday’s for his event planning and management company Inspirational Ideas. You can get more details from Sukhi on 07815 042797,
