Man arrested after arson attacks on vehicles

 

Police investigating a series of arson attacks on vehicles in Oldham have made an arrest.

A total of eight cars were deliberately torched in Royton and Shaw on Tuesday, 1 January 2013.

A 27-year-old man from Oldham was arrested yesterday, Monday 7 January 2013, on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. He remains in police custody for questioning.

Some time between 2am and 3.30am a vehicle was set alight while it was parked in a garage attached to a house on Firswood Drive, Royton.

Over the course of the following five hours, further vehicles were set alight on Queen Street and King Albert Street, Shaw. Extensive damage was caused to all the vehicles involved, but there have been no reports of any injuries.
