Mossley International Festival This Weekend

The Mossley International Festival of Arts and Music starts later today. There are three days of exhibitions and performances planned, with more than 50 artists taking part.

Several free events are scheduled for the George Lawton Hall. At 4:30pm today there’s a youth drama workshop before a country band performs at 8pm. Tomorrow there’ll be a puppet workshop and performance, while on Sunday it’s facepainting and crafts with the Mossley Band striking up at 2pm. Throughout the weekend, the hall will also be hosting an art exhibition, including contributions from Mossley’s twin towns in France, Germany and Portugal.

There’s also a paid-for event scheduled for the hall tomorrow night, with local young people putting on entertainment around the theme of drumming. Tickets costing £15 are available from Doubleday’s newsagent.

Meanwhile, there are going to be all kinds of performances in the local pubs and clubs across the weekend. Tonight at Mossley FC, the Church Inn, Roaches Lock and the Best of Brass; tomorrow in the Commercial, the Yorkshire Ward and Mountain St Clubs; and on Sunday it’s the turn of the Fleece, the Highland Laddie and the Tollemache.

There’s a lot more information about what’s on at the festival website here.
