Mossley Make Close Season Progress

It may be the close season, but Mossley have been busy both on and off the field as they look forward to the season ahead. The Evo-Stik Division One North side have signed several players, and have revealed their new floodlights are now working.

Mossley’s new players include midfielder Chris Rowney, who was recently released by Oldham. He’ll combine playing for Mossley with a full-time job at Tameside Council as a coach on their Football in the Community initiative.

Another former Oldham midfielder to join Mossley is Aaron Chalmers, who spent last season on the books at Hibs. Three ex-Oldham trainees, Ben Lysons, Leeroy Chinthengah and Nathan Kilcourse, have also signed for Mossley. You can read more at the Oldham Athletic website here.

Meanwhile, the new Seel Park floodlights have been installed and have been tested successfully. The old ones were condemned last season when heavy snow and high winds caused two of the pylons to collapse.

As a result, Mossley finished the season playing some of their home games at Ashton United’s Hurst Cross ground. The £30,000 cost of the new floodlights was covered by Tameside Council, local business GT Grafix, and donations from supporters.
