Muddy Miles for Megs

Megan was diagnosed with Bipolar back in 2020 after what can only be described as an “out of the blue” manic episode. She so bravely spent the last two years of her life coming to terms with the reality of living with Bipolar; but she sadly took her own life on the 12th December 2022.

As a family we are completing the Saddleworth Three Peaks Challenge on Saturday 22nd April (Megan’s birthday weekend) to raise funds and awareness for Bipolar UK. It is the only dedicated national charity supporting those affected by bipolar. To put it simply, they save lives! They give a huge amount of support to people like Megs, who unfortunately need more help than local mental health services can provide.

Muddy miles for Meg

We lost Megan at 26 years old. She was the bravest, brightest sister I could have ever wished for, an inspiration to many and a true fighter. She was beautifully thoughtful and lived a life full of laughter and love; but she was taken too soon by a cruel illness that took a hold of her life too quickly.

“Bipolar is a severe, lifelong mental health condition characterised by highs and lows. At their most extreme, the highs can lead to delusional thinking and psychosis, and the lows to suicidal thoughts.”

It’s such a hugely misunderstood illness and tragically, someone living with bipolar is 20 times more likely to take their own life than someone without the condition.

All we are asking is that if people can afford to they donate to our just giving page below. Or if they go for a walk on the 22nd or 23rd April, please use our hashtag #muddymilesformegs so we can see their pictures on social media, but most importantly please talking about Megan. Keep saying her name.

Thankyou

Emma Owen
