New Mossley Business Offers Eco-Friendly Fuel

A new business based in Mossley has begun selling an environmentally-friendly fuel to help keep local people warm this winter. Mossley Cracker, which is based at Woodend Mill, is producing what it calls eco-logs, made from local waste instead of trees.

The eco-logs were trialled during last winter’s bitterly cold conditions, and the company’s owners say they had such an encouraging response they’re extending the business this year. Unwanted byproducts of other local industries are used in the eco-logs, which are produced and sold direct to the public at the mill.

Mossley Cracker is a not-for-profit enterprise, and its founders hope the eco-logs are just the first part of the project. The company is keen to develop other products which would require minimal processing and transportation, to help preserve the environment.

Also, the company aims to create local employment as well as work experience for young people, and wants to involve local schools in its work in the future.

For more information, and to get hold of some of the eco-logs yourself, you can call 07776 234907, visit the Mossley Cracker website here, or stop by the company’s base at Woodend Mill between 10am and 4pm, Tuesdays to Saturdays.
