The borough-wide Oldham Book Festival starts tonight. There are nine days of readings and signings at libraries across our area, with tickets for each event costing £2.50.

The festival begins with two events this evening. Thriller writer Marc Gee will be speaking at the Crompton Library at 6pm, while local journalist Kevin Fitzpatrick will be discussing his new book The Joy Of Kev at Oldham Library at 7pm.

Of the ten events during the festival, two take place in Saddleworth and Lees. Sathnam Sanghera, author of memoir The Boy With The Top Knot, will be at Lees Library next Tuesday. And on Thursday 30 September, historical fiction writer Elizabeth Chadwick will be appearing at the library in Uppermill.

Full details of the festival are available at the Oldham Council website here.
