Oldham Chronicle’s Saddleworth Weekly Paper Now Monthly

The Saddleworth Extra free newspaper, produced by the Oldham Chronicle, is now only appearing once a month instead of once a week. The next issue is due out tomorrow, Thursday 1 September.

The Extra is now one of three monthly publications available in our area, the others being the good news-focused Saddleworth Independent and directory-style Saddleworth Monthly, both of which are independently owned. The Around Saddleworth magazine comes out once every two months.

Meanwhile, figures released today show the main daily Oldham Evening Chronicle has lost almost 10% of its readers in the past year. It shifted 14,451 copies a day during the first six months of 2011, a year-on-year decline of 9.9%. In total, 83 of the UK’s 86 regional daily papers suffered circulation falls. You can read more about that from the Press Gazette here.

(Editor’s note: Around Saddleworth magazine advertises with Saddleworth News. Apart from that link, Saddleworth News has no connection to any of the various local printed publications)
