Overcast then some rain – Thursday 23rd January 2020 – Sunday 26th January 2020

Hi all,

A very quiet few days of weather has passed this week, with a new pressure record being set at 1049.75 hPa on Monday, thanks to a huge area of high pressure. Eventually a change later this weekend but still no snow to lower levels in the forecast.

Thursday: Cloudy with limited brightness. Low-cloud on higher ground. Mild for the time of year. Calm winds. Max 9°C

Friday: A weak weather front might slip down from the northwest so perhaps some localised drizzle especially on the hills. Max 8°C

Weekend: Some rain on Sunday.

Saturday: More of the same. Dull start with mostly cloudy skies. It is expected to remain dry but with the breeze picking up later it might allow for the cloud to break and we could see some brightness. Light rain overnight. Max 9°C

Sunday: Patchy rain for the morning, clearing southeastwards with a few showers following on. A little cooler but more in the way of sunshine than recently. Breezy. Max 7°C

Outlook: Heavy rain for Monday and windy too (keeping an eye on this). Temperatures generally 7-9°C with more in the way of showery rain to come during the week. Small chance of the showers being wintry on the Pennines/hills, especially on Tuesday, otherwise no significant cold/snowy weather on the horizon.
