Parish Council Reveals New Website And Logo

Saddleworth Parish Council has updated its website and logo. Both were formally revealed at Monday night’s meeting at Uppermill Civic Hall.

The website and logo are the work of Lees-based company Cornerstone. They’ve spent the last three months putting both together, at a cost to the council of £3,000.

The address of the new website is www.saddleworthparishcouncil.org.uk and includes information about council meetings and the councillors themselves, as well as details about hiring the Civic Hall. There’s also tourist information, news about forthcoming local events, and an archive of images of Saddleworth.

An earlier version of the site presented to councillors at a meeting earlier this year featured black text on white and a banner picture of Dobcross Square, which gave it a passing resemblance to Saddleworth News. It was later decided to give the website a mainly blue background and to rotate the main picture through various images of our area, which certainly makes it look more distinctive.

The new Chairman of the council, Cllr Keith Begley, told Monday night’s meeting that the new website would help bring the way the council communicates “kicking and screaming into the 21st century.” He stressed the site would be kept regularly updated, while the previous council pages contained little information and were rarely amended.

The new logo was also approved by councillors earlier in the year. It was decided to get a new one after it emerged the previous hand-drawn logo had been long-since lost, which made it impossible to blow the image up large enough to be used on outdoor banners and posters.
