Photos Of Rushcart Dancing In Uppermill

These dancers had come up from Cambridgeshire to take part.

Last weekend’s Saddleworth Rushcart festival wasn’t just about our own Saddleworth Morris Men. Groups of dancers, known as sides, travelled from near and far to join in and show off their skills.

Here are some photos showing three of the sides performing in glorious sunshine outside the museum in Uppermill last Saturday lunchtime. The Devil’s Dyke Morris Men had travelled up from Cambridgeshire, and the Kennet Morris Men had come from Reading, while the Mossley Morris Men didn’t have to journey quite so far!

Many thanks to Lorraine Jones for taking these pictures. Further coverage of Saddleworth Rushcart by Saddleworth News, including more pictures and lots of videos, can be found here.
