Here are some terrific images of the Diggle Blues Festival, which took place over the weekend. The second year of the event has been hailed as a success by both organisers and, judging by the healthy crowds at the venues around the village, the public too.

The pictures were kindly sent in by Gill Brett of Saddleworth In Focus, a supporter of Saddleworth News. You can see more examples of her work, including many excellent images of our local area, at the Saddleworth In Focus website here.

She took these photos on Sunday, the last of the festival’s three days, capturing the Blues Blasters in action at Kiln Green, and then both the Bad Back Blues Band and singer Charlene Fogarty at the Hanging Gate. Diggle Band Club and the Diggle Hotel also hosted concerts during the festival.

When I bumped into organiser David Wood at the Hanging Gate on Saturday night, he said the festival had been “brilliant” this year. David was inspired to start it last year, after regularly attending the successful Marsden Jazz Festival.
