Pictures From Oldham’s Twestival
Local people and companies have been busy raising money for Saddleworth’s own Oldham Mountain Rescue Team today, at the first-ever Twestival Oldham.
Two main fundraising events have been held. An afternoon of family fun took place at Earl Mill, before tonight’s event for grown ups at Oldham Athletic’s Boundary Park.
The Mayor of Oldham, Cllr David Jones, joined members of the rescue team and football club mascot Chaddy The Owl as the special guests this afternoon. Inside, children were kept entertained by dance workshops courtesy of the Earl Dance Centre, magic and balloon modelling from Smilie the Clown, cupcake making thanks to Rainbow Delicious, as well as face painting and other fun and games.
All proceeds from the day go to the intrepid Mountain Rescue Team, which is based in Uppermill. Oldham was one of about 160 towns and cities across the world taking part in Twestival, a series of fundraising events inspired by users of information-sharing website Twitter.
