Pictures Of Boat Stuck In Canal At Diggle

Here are some images of an unusual sight on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal at Diggle last week. Almost all of the water had drained out near Grandpa Greene’s ice cream shop, leaving one boat literally stuck in the mud.
These photos were sent in by Saddleworth News reader Laura Birch, so many thanks to her!
According to the Oldham Chronicle, which has published an article on this, the problem was caused by a boater leaving a series of locks open. Apparently it took three days for water levels to return to normal. The Chronicle’s story is here.
