Police Warning Over Saddleworth Burglaries

Burglaries in Saddleworth villages over the weekend have prompted our local police to again urge residents to remain vigilant, and to avoid leaving valuable items in view.

According to officers, garden furniture has been stolen from properties in the Dobcross area. They say any valuable outdoor items should be kept secure.

Meanwhile, there was a burglary at the youth club at Uppermill Methodist Church over the weekend. And on Sunday night in Denshaw at about 7:15pm, a window of a property was smashed by a would-be burglar, who was chased off by an alert neighbour. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police on the non-emergency number 0161 872 5050.

There was also a report of a horse being stolen from a field in Uppermill. But it turned out to be a false alarm, as the horse had merely escaped and was later found.

You can get up-to-date information from the Saddleworth and Lees police team at their website here, or from their Twitter feed here. You can ring them directly by calling the Uppermill office number 0161 856 4525. In an emergency, always dial 999.
