Poppies Everywhere!

Do you remember Saddleworth Life putting out a request for knitted poppies for Oldham Parish Church?

Well they’ve had a phenomenal response to their plea and now are happy to share the view with you. What a great show of community spirit and a beautiful display! We’d love to hear from you if you were one of the knitters or crocheters.

Photos are thanks to Jean Hurlston, Oldham Parish Chaplain, who says ‘ Thank everyone for their contribution and thankyou for promoting 🙏’

  • Shena Cuming says:

I live in Uppermill and work for Oldham Council. I set up its Knit and Natter group. The group and other employees and friends and families contributed over 1000 poppies for this project and even volunteered for half a day to keep knitting! We were invited to the Parish Church to hand them over. We are so pleased and proud that we contributed to remembering the fallen and the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.

  • That’s wonderful. Many thanks for sharing that with us Shena.
Can you let me have the details of the group as I’m slowly putting together a list of local groups for our readers? Jude
