What do you want?
In this quieter month of the year, well quieter for Saddleworth after the Summer of exciting local traditional events and before the onslaught of commercial Christmas, we’re taking a little time to reflect on local issues and asking our readers what they would like to read and how the site can be of benefit to them.
I set up a post on Facebook and asked the question ‘ As a lifestyle magazine especially for Saddleworth and surrounding areas, what would you like to see included? Mention 3 things in the comments.’
The response was very positive and there was a theme of doing, happenings and information.
A very much recurring theme was of ‘The environment (fracking, green spaces, electric cars etc), activities for young people (so they stay out of trouble and can learn skills), caring for the older generation (defeating loneliness, hydration and nutrition guides)’
A few more much agreed suggestions were ‘Local groups, fundraising activities and events’ ‘Craft Markets, what’s on for teenagers, wellness and health’ ‘ Vegetarian and Vegan places to eat, restaurant reviews, local produce suppliers, craft beers’.
And we just loved this suggestion of ‘ Clogs, pies, ale’ .
Now, for such a site to offer this we need a little bit of help! This is a MUCH read site with a LARGE following. Let’s put it to some fantastic use!
Events
It seems that a lot goes on in the area that doesn’t reach us. We are a very small team behind the site and just don’t have the resources, at present, to be chasing information about which events are on. Most events make money, so I think they should be doing the ground work and sending their details to us. So if you know someone who is running an event please get them to get in touch
Health and Well being
We already have some new and brilliant contributors to the site – watch this space! If you are a health professional that would be interested in getting your voice heard please get in touch.
Clogs, Ales and Pies – AND HISTORY!
We welcome any input from any local historians! Drop us a line.
Craft Fairs, Markets, Exhibitions, Local Groups
You’re all of interest to the community and our readers – please get in touch.
I thoroughly look forward to bringing more interesting content to our readers and thank all those that have contributed so far. Onwards!
Jude
