Power Out In Denshaw
Homes in Denshaw and some parts of Delph were left without power tonight. Householders began to report the problem shortly before 8pm.
According to Electricity North West, damage to equipment was to blame. It said its engineers had begun work on fixing the issue, and that most homes should have the power back by 11pm.
However, it added that homes close to the site of the problem would have to wait until the early hours. Flickering lights were also noticed elsewhere in Saddleworth.

I am frequently amazed how quick this site reacts to real time local events. I echo my partners words, thank you SN.
We (Green Ash) had no electricity from yesterday morning until the early hours of this morning..it was freeeeezing….but loveley with candles lit everywhere . All back to normal now. Just glad it didnt happen over Xmas with below zero temperatures!
I was in the t’house at around 7.30 watching the TV when I heard the dog whimper in the kitchen and I thought to myself whats up, not like her? Suddenley the lights started flickering and I heard a huge bang my setee started to shake violently and I thought it might have been a poltergiest for a few moments but I quickly realised what it was, its left a right bloody mess.
I do apologise everyone, it’s my fault as I fell out of bed and it must of caused shockwaves throughout the borough.
