Rangers Looking Good For Promotion

Saddleworth Rangers are on the verge of promotion from rugby league’s National Conference League Division One. The only team who could deny them a place in the top three, Normanton Knights, suffered a 40-10 defeat away to Myton Warriors yesterday.

Rangers have already played all of their fixtures. They’re four points ahead of Normanton, who have two matches still to play, which means they could still draw level with Rangers for the final promotion place. However, if Normanton fail to win both of their remaining games, away to Thornhill tomorrow and Thatto Heath on Saturday, Saddleworth will definitely be promoted.

There are more details at the league’s website here.

Meanwhile, the football season is coming to an end. In the Huddersfield and District League, Diggle have played three times in the last week, drawing with champions Newsome and Hepworth, and losing 2-1 at home to Lepton Highlanders. Uppermill were in action on Saturday only, and they were held 1-1 by Cumberworth.

Diggle are currently 3rd in the table, but would move up to 2nd if they avoid defeat in their final match away to Moldgreen on Thursday. Uppermill are 6th, but can still end the season 5th with a draw against Hepworth on Saturday, in what is their last game. There’s more information at the league’s website here.

In the Manchester League, Springhead drew 2-2 at Chapel Town tonight. That followed a 2-2 draw away to AVRO last week, and a 2-1 defeat at Leigh Athletic on Saturday. Springhead also have one game remaining, and are 8th in the table, which you can see here.
