Rugby star pledges his support for local charity at Delph meeting this week

Great Britain Rugby League Captain and Leeds Rhino’s star Kevin Sinfield paid a visit to Delph on Tuesday to meet with Bryn Hughes, father of PC Nicola Hughes, to pledge his support for the PC Nicola Hughes Memorial Fund.

Kevin is to become a patron of the fund alongside actor Patrick Stewart and TV presenter John Stapleton. John Stapleton will also be the compere for the evening at the annual Memorial Fund Ball to be held at Old Trafford Football Ground.

Talks were held with both Bryn & Sam Hughes regarding encouraging children, who the charity helps, to channel their energies into sports.

Kevin told Saddleworth News: “This is a great charity and I want to help as much as I possibly can, the charity is helping to make a huge difference in a lot of young peoples lives, I am very honoured to have been asked to be a patron and proud to accept the role. They have my full support from now and into the future.”

Preparations are also underway for the Annual Memorial Ball and anyone interested in attending can find details below for the tickets.

Those attending include the Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police, the Crime Commissioner, sports personalities and stars.

The Annual Memorial Ball is held at the Old Trafford Manchester Suite, Old Trafford Football Ground, Old Trafford on Saturday 11 July 2015. It starts at 6:30pm and goes on till 1.00 am, Black Tie/Ball Gown (pink or yellow theme).

Tickets are priced at £45 for 3 course dinner and entertainment which includes Auction Prizes, raffles and much more.
