Saddleworth couple share their diet stories in new e-book

A Saddleworth couple have recently become e-authors in a bid to share their dieting stories and tips with the world.

Clive Mingham and Mags Casey were inspired to try the new 5:2 intermittent fasting diet after watching a Horizon programme on the subject back in September.  They wrote the book after 12 weeks on the regime, after which they had both lost over 5kg and felt much more healthy.

Clive said: “I have high cholesterol, not helped by my fondness for local pies and cheese. I don’t want to take medication and have been looking for other ways to reduce my high score. The Horizon programme gave a convincing argument for the benefits of intermittent fasting, backed up by scientific studies.”

The couple spent the next weeks eating normally for 5 days a week and then eating a very low calorie diet for the remaining 2.

Mags said: “For me, the longer term health benefits claimed by the programme were fascinating, including improved memory, reduced risk of Alzheimers, Parkinsons disease and diabetes, together with a longer life expectancy.  When I looked for recipe tips for the low calorie days, I found that there wasn’t much out there, so decided to put some ideas to together.”

Mags and Clive’s book is available to download from amazon.co.uk.

Its title is: The Feast and Fast Diet. Lose Weight, gain health. Recipes for the 5:2 diet.
