Saddleworth Literary Festival 2018
And for the second year running, the line up for the Saddleworth Literary Festival has been announced.
This isn’t a high-brow literary festival, instead focusing on being a community event involving schools, businesses, local organisations and local councillors. It is a credit to those involved that on a very tight budget the festival manages to attract writers, poets and literary agents from all over the country as well as highlighting the enormous wealth of talent that exists within Saddleworth, and encouraging young talent with a writing competition, giving the youngsters the chance to rub shoulders with established writers.
Ryan told Saddleworth News: “Although in its infancy, the festival organisers have ambitions to make the festival one of the highlights of the Saddleworth events calendar.”
The schedule so far is :
Day 1 – Saturday 24 March 2018 10:30am – 5:30pm
Day 2 – Sunday 25 March 2018 10:30am – 5:30pm
The wealth of authors and speakers includes Cathy Crabb, an award winning playwright, Spike the Poet, and George Costigan who was Bob in the film ‘Bob, Rita and Sue’ fame, and featuring Mike Sweeney, Buzz Hawkins of The Bradshaws, and the Patron of the festival John Henshaw.
The Festival is run in association with Oldham Libraries. More information about speakers and the festival please visit the SLF website here.
