Saddleworth Rushcart At The Navigation In Dobcross

If you weren’t able to catch any of the Saddleworth Rushcart festival over the weekend, here’s another video instalment if what you missed. This clip shows the rushcart as it travelled down Wool Road to The Navigation in Dobcross, late on Saturday afternoon.

The cart, with Eddie Worrall on board as the jockey, had already been on a tour of villages throughout the day, taking in Uppermill, Greenfield and Delph, as well as Dobcross Square. With dancing at each stop, several of the morris men from the various sides were looking a bit weary by the time they got to the Navvy!

Further coverage of Saddleworth Rushcart from Saddleworth News, including more pictures and videos, can be found here.

Information about the history of the festival is available from the Saddleworth Morris Men website here. They’ve also got a Facebook page here.

And here are some pictures of Saturday’s action at The Navigation, snapped on my phone. If you took your own photos over the weekend, and want to share them with Saddleworth News readers, please do e-mail them to editor@saddleworthnews.com
