Saddleworth weather warning for today

Bins blown over in Diggle.

A weather warning is in place for large parts of the UK including Saddleworth with strong winds and heavy rain. In the last hour heavy rain has been falling in the area with very strong winds, this has caused branches to fall and a tree has been toppled near the old Saddleworth Station. Wheelie bins and other small structures have been blown over.

Residents are advised to take care when driving and to be especially careful of falling branches.  There is a potential for localised flooding of some roads and river levels are quite high. We will provide updates via Twitter if needed.

Canal at Diggle.

It would be great if all our Facebook and Twitter followers could ask one or two other people to follow Saddleworth News.

Please ask family members or anyone else in the Saddleworth area who may be interested.

If we can double our followers this will help with important issues like missing dogs, people and children.

We can then issue reports of incidents to Saddleworth residents a lot quicker than any other local source.

Well us Independents are hardy Saddleworth folk. We’ll still be out leafletting and talking to people come hell or high water, so look out for us in Diggle and Dobcross this afternoon and feel free to offer us a brew………or a towel! 🙂
