Senior UN Man To Speak In Delph
A leading UN representative in Iraq will be in Delph tonight for a talk and discussion on the future of that country. Jake Morland, who has family links to the village, will be speaking at the Methodist Church Hall on Gartside Street at 7:30pm.
Mr Morland is a special representative for humanitarian aid in Iraq. He’s had a long association with the UN’s refugee agency the UNHCR, and a collection will be taken this evening for Team Refuge, which provides surgical aid for children in refugee camps.
Tonight’s event is being staged by the Saddleworth Peace Movement, and anyone is welcome to attend.
