Shock In Dobcross Over Post Office Robbery

Dobcross Post Office today.

Villagers in Dobcross have expressed shock following the armed robbery at the Post Office on Woods Lane yesterday. Four men, one reportedly armed with a gun, threatened the postmaster and made off with an estimated £2,500 in cash.

The incident happened at about 5:20pm. The hooded gang went inside and demanded money, before smashing the protective shield in front of the Post Office counter. As well as Sterling, the men made off with hundreds of pounds worth of foreign currency.

At the scene today, one local person said: “You just don’t expect it in a small Post Office in a quiet village like this.” However, it’s not the first time the Post Office has been targeted. A robbery took place there back in 2006.

The Post Office and shop are already open again as normal, although the security shield hasn’t yet been repaired. Postmaster Suhki Singh was not at work today after he was threatened by the gang during the raid. There were no customers inside when the robbers struck.
