Singing through lockdown

Since the first Covid-19 lockdown in March 2020, the Saddleworth Male Voice Choir has been unable to meet, but thanks to the dedication and ingenuity of MD Dorian Kelly and accompanists Louise Brennan and Elaine Chapman has continued to rehearse every week on Zoom.

The choir secretary Ceri Davies and quizmaster Stewart Grace have held a weekly quiz on Zoom to continue our charity fundraising and we have managed to reach a total of £3000 during the past year which will be presented to the choir’s current charity Mobiloo, an organisation which provides toilet facilities for disabled people at events throughout the country.

The choir is planning a virtual concert for St. George’s Day which can be viewed on YouTube from Saturday 24th April. Watch this space! And visit their website here… Welcome To Saddleworth Male Voice Choir (saddleworthmvc.org)

Many of the choir’s previous guests who have submitted contributions to the concert include:
The Oldham Tinkers, Bernard Wrigley, The Hometowners, The Broadway Big Band, The Saddleworth Singers, Chapel-en-le-Frith Ladies Choir, Sopranos Sarah Ogden and April Grime and Welsh Tenor John Pierce.

It’s great to see all of their smiling faces!
