The Greater Manchester Fringe Festival comes to Saddleworth for the first time

In July, The Swan in Dobcross will be the only venue outside the cities of Manchester and Salford to be part of the Greater Manchester Fringe Festival.

The pub theatre is to play host to nine ‘Fringe’ events including five newly written plays, children’s theatre, Victorian classics, comedy, jazz, cartoons, musical theatre and opera – an eclectic mix for sure.  The Greater Manchester Fringe is now in its third year and is a showcase for original and innovative drama, music, art and other cultural activities. A summary of The Swan’s programme of events is listed below. For more information, please visit The Swan’s website www.theswandobcross.com

First up is “The Many Mishaps of Mr Vinegar”, which is a play with music for children and their families (this Saturday 5th July at 2pm). You are advised to book early for this show which is described as a “rollickingly funny”, fast-paced adventure story – a great way to get young people interested in theatre and live performance.

Demand for tickets has already been very high, so please check with the venue to see if there are any tickets available – call Michael or Tim on 01457 873451. (Please note that although the new drama “Hardwired” has sold out, anyone interested in seeing an extra performance of this play on Tues 22nd July, should get in touch with The Swan.)
