TV’s Jack laughs it up for local good cause
September sees two shows coming to Saddleworth’s Off The Rails Comedy Club with the first raising money for a very good cause indeed.
Saddleworth MIND will be aiming to add over £1000 to their coffers on Friday 16 September.
The ever so slightly manic Danny Ward turns the everyday trials that we all experience into piercingly well dissected anecdotes of exasperation and obsession – with wonderfully hilarious solutions. With a delivery that is up-beat and well honed, his easy-going style is both endearing and very funny.
Jack Carroll was taken to the nation’s hearts when he came second in Britain’s Got Talent to a performing dog. Since then Jack has received widespread recognition for his burgeoning stand up and acting careers whereas we have no current news on the dog. Sarah Millican’s support act Caimh McDonnell and Rob Riley complete the bill.
Sunday 25 September promises to be a rip roaring evening. Josh Howie is the son of legendary PR guru Lynne Franks, the woman who inspired Jennifer Saunders’ character Edina in Absolutely Fabulous. Raised as a Buddhist this ex-public schoolboy then trained as a Rabbi before being kicked off the programme for being caught with a naked (non-Jewish) girl. A career in stand-up was probably inevitable.
Somerset’s Chris Stokes’ calm, laid back demeanour combined with a hilarious and erudite turn of phrase has seen him become a firm audience favourite.
Equipped with superb material, and the style to match, his is an act that is both extremely funny and original. The show also features compere Martin Mor and Marc Jennings.
