The service of Les Barrow, a member of the Saddleworth Group of Artists for more than six decades, has been recognised with a special presentation.

Saddleworth Parish Council Chairman Cllr Bill Cullen, and his consort Cllr Enid Firth, gave Les a gift on behalf of the artists, at the preview of the group’s latest exhibition in Uppermill.

As well as being a member of the group for 61 years, Les has also served as its Treasurer for almost all of that time!

The exhibition is taking place in the gallery of the Saddleworth Museum, and runs until 19 June.

Admission is free, and the exhibition is part of the Saddleworth Festival of the Arts, which formally begins this weekend. It’s open between 10am and 4pm Monday to Saturday, and from 12 noon to 4pm on Sundays.
