Walk 4 Andrew
We are walking to raise awareness of mental health and illnesses. Join us in enjoying the beauty of Dovestone Reservoir.
A ‘Walk for Andrew’ is a memorial walk for Andrew Gidney who sadly took his life in January of this year. Andrew is the 20 yr old son of Jude Gidney, Editor of Saddleworth Life.com
We are walking to enjoy the beauty of the area we live in and to raise funds for the local organisation Andy’s Man Club which are encouraging men to talk about their problems. A lot of people find it hard to open up to their feelings and to admit them, these guys are helping to start to remove that stigma.
In January Saddleworth Life ran a similar event, taking a group up to Pots and Pans and then over to Alderman’s Edge, with huge success. It was enjoyed by over 60 people who came.
“We said we’d organise other walks but, with the devastation that losing Andrew caused our family, we are only just feeling that we can start helping others. If we help to prevent just one family from going through this pain, then our job is done.” Jude
This walk is suitable for all with wheelchair access, suitable for buggies and prams and well-behaved dogs on a lead are welcome.
The walk is approximately 5K in length so it should take about 3 hrs maximum to complete.
This is a ticketed event, so admission is by ticket only. Children go free. CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS
