White Christmas? – Thursday 20th December 2018 – Sunday 23rd December 2018

Hi all,

My last weekly blog before Christmas Day! Will it or won’t it be a White Christmas? If you have been following my tweets for the past few days you will know the answer; more on this later. One weather statistic that I have banged on about over the last few months is about how dry it has been. December (92.4mm so far) is certainly going about topping up our reservoirs, but a drier end to the year looks likely.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy with some bright spells and showers from the west, some heavy later. Max 9°C

Friday: Cloudy with some heavy rain for the morning. The afternoon will see some bright spells and showers, some merging later. Windy, 35mph gusts. Max 10°C

Weekend: Changeable.

Saturday: Not a bad day to be fair, once the morning showers have eased away leaving bright spells. Max 9°C

Sunday: Chance of a dry start, but soon rain will push up from the southwest leading to a wet day. There is some uncertainty as to how far north the rain gets so this day’s forecast could change. Max 9°C

Outlook: Unsettled with rain to start next week but slowly high pressure looks set to build from the southwest. This will settle down the weather, variable cloud, some brightness and mostly dry. A chilly northwesterly breeze at times.

Christmas Day: Mainly cloudy and dry, slight frost overnight. No chance of any snow. 8°C
