Youngest Parish Councillor in the History of Saddleworth is elected

On Thursday 4th April, the local Conservative Party candidates, Luke Lancaster and Max Woodvine were automatically elected to Saddleworth Parish Council following the announcement of uncontested elections in the Delph and Dobcross Wards, respectively. The pair will take their seats following the local elections on the 2nd May. Max Woodvine, who is now the youngest Parish Councillor in the history of Saddleworth, was elected to represent the Dobcross Ward, while his counterpart Luke, who is also standing for election to Oldham Council in Saddleworth North, was elected to the Delph Ward.

Councillor Jamie Curley, who represents Saddleworth South on Oldham Council and the Greenfield Ward on the Parish Council, commented: “I welcome the new Councillors who have stepped up to the mark and are prepared to serve their community. I am particularly delighted that Max and Luke both belong to the next generation – they will bring a fresh outlook and a new perspective to the work of our Parish Council.” Following their election Max Woodvine stated: “It is an incredible privilege to represent this wonderful community, but it is also huge responsibility. I am looking forward to working with all my fellow Parish Councillors to make Saddleworth the best place to live, work and to enjoy life. Having always lived in Saddleworth, after growing up in Diggle, it’s exciting to know that I can play a part in the life of the place I am proud to call home.”
Luke Lancaster – Delph Ward
Luke Lancaster said: “I consider myself so fortunate to have been raised in Saddleworth and cannot wait to give back to our community in my new capacity as Parish Councillor for Delph and Denshaw. However, for me the campaign is not over – I am working hard to earn the trust of Saddleworth North residents in the upcoming borough elections. It’s a crowded field this year and will not be an easy contest, but I’m proud to be standing as part of a local Conservative team which has a strong platform and a positive vision for all our villages.”

    Surely you mean unelected?

  • No the official term is elected. If it concerns you you could have contested it by standing yourself. Well done to Max for doing something proactive!
