ππ³π Operation Tyres ππ³π
Dovestone WI latest:
Whilst some of our team are still busy sewing face masks for the community, some of our Countryside Safety Marshall volunteer team have been busy shifting the mess made by recent fly tippers.
A team of seven Dovestone W.I. πCSMβs worked with RSPB to clear the tyres from the Binn Green area.
The whole mission was carried out over two days, as it required temporary traffic lights to be used. Phase one consisted of the team collecting and digging out over 120 tyres from the forest and the undergrowth and stacking them up behind the wall. When the tyres were flung over the wall, some had rolled all the way down the hill….which had to be brought up to the top again π And because they were full of stagnant rain water, the midges were out in full force π
Anyway, after getting drenched, mud splattered and bitten to bits, all tyres were stacked behind the wall awaiting the recycling truck.
Phase two was done in two teams – some worked behind the wall hoisting tyres up and over the wall, using a hook and pulley system and the other team worked on the roadside stacking them on the pavement.
Then a joint effort by all, getting the tyres from the roadside onto the recycling truck.
Mission Accomplished….well done and thank you to all involved! ππ»πππ»
