Dr Kershaw’s Launches Collection Tin Appeal

Dr Kershaw’s Hospice is appealing to local businesses, bars, pubs, and restaurants to help raise vital funds for patient care, through a collection tin appeal.

Dr Kershaw’s has been impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic and has seen a significant drop in fundraising income. The Hospice’s collection tin appeal, which focuses on local businesses, is a simple way to support the Hospice by collecting loose change on their behalf.

The Hospice, based on Turf Lane, Royton, serves a population of over 200,000 drawn from Oldham and its surrounding districts. It provides free, specialist, palliative and end-of-life care for adults within the community; through their in-patient unit and in patients’ own homes via their Caring Hands and Hospice at Home services. In order to deliver this vital care within the community Dr Kershaw’s needs to raise £3.6 million every year.

Any local businesses who wish to support the Hospice in its collection tin appeal are asked to contact the fundraising team on 0161 624 9984, so their collection tin can be allocated and picked up from the Hospice reception.

“The smallest contribution can go a long way in helping to care for our patients. Support from local businesses and the community is vital, and will help a patient to spend their last days in our care, giving them time with their loved ones, to create precious forever-memories, pain-free, in comfort and with dignity.” Rebecca Bentham, Head of Income Development
