Badminton Club Appeals For Members

Saddleworth Badminton Club is appealing for new members as the season starts. The invitation is aimed at anyone who already knows the basics of the game or who has played in a league in the past, while weekly coaching sessions are also being laid on for beginners who don’t feel ready to play competitively.

The Saddleworth A team plays in the First Division of the Oldham and Rochdale league, and the club says it needs people who have played to a “reasonable standard” to bolster the squad. There’s also a B team, and there are opportunities for members to play social games. Players aged 16 and over are welcome, and the club meets on Wednesday nights at Saddleworth School in Uppermill, between 8pm and 10pm.

To get more information and to arrange a taster session, ring Rod Lawson 01457 872664

As for beginners, they can attend weekly coaching at the school on Tuesday evenings. These sessions are open to children as well as novice adults, so youngsters who have taken part in the Saddleworth Village Olympics can attend if they feel like improving their skills.

Anyone interested should ring Keith and Sue Garnett on 0161 368 5380.
