Bridge danger closes Smithy Lane in Uppermill

Smithy Lane, Uppermill, has been closed tonight near to the junction of Station Road due to falling debris and dangling ropes from a wooden footbridge.

High winds have torn off plastic sheeting placed under the bridge whilst repair works are carried out.
Soil and rubble has been falling onto the road below.
Police and Oldham Council response teams have closed the road and diversions will be in place throughout the day.
