The incident happened at around 3pm this afternoon, when a female driver who was sitting in her car says she was approached by a man who began to shout obscenities whilst waving a stick at her.

She claimed the man’s dog also jumped up scratching her vehicle.

A taxi driver parked outside the station claims the man also shouted at him and that again the man’s dog jumped up and scratched his car.

The man was later seen boarding a train towards Stalybridge and station staff immediately contacted British Transport Police.

The female motorist told Saddleworth News: “I was sitting in my car waiting to pick up a friend from the station when the man started yelling abuse at me, he then came over to my car and began waving a stick he was holding as if he was going to hit my car.

“I was really afraid of what he was going to do and I have no idea why he did this.”

The offender is believed to be in his 60s with grey hair and was wearing black jogging bottoms and a white top, he also had a black dog with him.

Police are investigating the incident and anyone with information should call 101.
