Delph And Dobcross Go Top Of The League
Delph and Dobcross have moved to the top of cricket’s Huddersfield League, following Saturday’s victory over Skelmanthorpe.
They are three points ahead of Honley, who were beaten by Kirkburton.
D&D’s match was reduced to 42 overs per side by rain, and Skelmanthorpe could only manage 154/8 from their allocation. Professional Bilal Khiljee was the pick of the bowlers, with 4/52 from 17 overs.
In reply, both Bruce Cruse and Khiljee departed early, but Irfan Zahoor and Faisal Butt both hit unbeaten half-centuries to steer D&D to victory by eight wickets with 4.1 overs to spare.
You can see the scorecard and read a match report at the Delph and Dobcross website here.
In matches played while I was on holiday, D&D beat Scholes in the league, but lost to Gomersal in their Heavy Woollen Cup quarter-final, and also suffered a Twenty20 defeat to Barkisland.
