Double Defeat Leaves Mossley Bottom

Mossley have sunk to the bottom of the Evo Stik League Division One North, following two defeats over the Bank Holiday weekend.

On Saturday, Skelmersdale got the better of Mossley 3-1. Monday’s local derby with a Curzon Ashton side packed with former Mossley players was lost 4-0.

Tom Ingham had given Mossley the lead at Skelmersdale, but the home side hit back with three second-half goals to take all the points.

On Monday, ex-Mossley boss John Flangan brought his Curzon side to Seel Park, and named 11 former Mossley players in his squad of 16. The match proved sadly one-sided, as Kristian Dennis scored a hat-trick, before substitute Mike Fish completed the scoring.

Mossley have just two points from six league matches so far this season, and they’re one point off Clitheroe at the bottom of the table, which you can see here.

However, Mossley have the opportunity to give themselves a boost this Saturday, as they face Runcorn Linnets in the FA Cup Preliminary Round at Seel Park. Kick-off is 3pm, with Mossley aiming to repeat last season’s run to the Fourth Qualifying Round.
