Firefighters have been called to a fire at a Saddleworth farm this afternoon.

The fire is believed to have started at around 2.15pm and involved 100 bails of straw that had been stored in an open barn on Roundhill Farm, off Long Lane, in Dobcross.

Five fire appliances were sent to the scene and are currently damping down the bails.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) told Saddleworth news: “A fire started in an open barn on the farm in Dobcross and involved around 100 bails of straw, we have five fire appliances at the scene bringing the fire under control.

“Firefighters will remain on the scene for some time to ensure the fire cannot reignite

“There are no reports of any injuries.”
