First Birthday For Uppermill’s A Spoonfull Of Sugar

Beth Blackmore (left) and Hannah Jones celebrating the first birthday of A Spoonfull of Sugar in Uppermill today.

The two women behind A Spoonfull of Sugar have been celebrating the first birthday of the cake shop on Uppermill High Street. The front of the store has been decked out in bunting and balloons, and Beth Blackmore and Hannah Jones have been giving out lollies and badges to customers.

When Saddleworth News stopped by to buy some cakes and take a picture this lunchtime, Beth and Hannah said it had already been a very busy day for them with plenty of people through the door, despite the showers.

The friends have actually been making cupcakes professionally for two-and-a-half years, and gave up their previous jobs in October 2009 to concentrate on the business, before opening the Uppermill shop last June.

To find out more about them, you can still read a Saddleworth News interview from when the shop first opened by clicking here.

    Many Happy Returns 🙂

A business which will hopefully be strengthend by the public now being able to park and shop with them.

  • Nick Watts says:

Mr Wheeler, I don’t think there’s any need to bring parking into this.
Last time I checked, both Hannah and Beth were AGAINST the parking restrictions – their business was already successful BEFORE the restrictions came into place.

If you really want to have something to say about the parking, then why not ask the Parish Council for a public consultation about it then you can do it in the right place and your opinions can be heard fairly next to everyone elses.

Let’s leave a Spoonfull of Sugar to rightly enjoy their celebrations

Nick…likewise. Your first and last sentences would have sufficed.

Spoonfull of sugar would like to thank all of our customers for supporting us over the past year , we are extremely grateful for everyone’s kindness and generosity, our first birthday was a fantastic hit .

We know that the parking situation is a argument of two halves yet I’m sure we are all in agreement that we want to make parking more accessible to tourists, shop owners and the local community, if you feel that you are finding parking easier that is brilliant as we want everyone’s time in village to be as smooth and as enjoyable as possible.

Thank you all again for your support we feel very honoured to be a part of such a lovely village and we hope to do it proud in our second year in business.

Pop in soon to try our new line of lovely Milkshakes made with local Grandpa Greene’s ice-cream 🙂
    Thank you

Love Hannah and Beth x x
