Greenfield mums are roughing it to help Andy’s Man Club

I contacted Karen Jayne S to ask her about a challenge she and her friends have set themselves and why. Here’s what she told me …..

“We are 13 mums from Greenfield Primary School, our children are in the same class.

What we’re doing is a 10k obstacle course in Manchester in June. At first is was for fun after I jokingly put it on a group chat we have. We decided since we’re doing it might as well raise funds. The course is called Rough Runners and you can read more about it here.

In November 2016, a member of my team very sadly lost her wonderful husband Karl, and amazing daddy to their daughter, to suicide following him suffering for a short time with severe tinnitus and sleep deprivation.

We decided to raise funds to a local Oldham based charity called Andy’s Man club,

Andy’s Man Club is a support group for men which aims to tackle the male suicide crisis by providing a safe environment where they can meet and talk without being judged.

Not one of member of my team members are fit, we have all had to work really hard to get ourselves in some form for fitness to do it. We have trained separately and as a group.
As you can probably imagine there has been a lot of laughs, jokes tears, and cuddles better.

As a group of friends we have become very close. We have had our children train with us at times too.

We originally set a target of £1000 thinking we would struggle to get that but we smashed it with a few days. We have up our target to £1500 in hope we can raise more. “

Please donate and encourage the ladies in their effort to this extremely worthy cause. Greenfield Rough Runners
