Greenfield Singer To Perform At Lees Charity Jazz Night
A Saddleworth singer will be returning to our area to perform at a fundraising jazz night later this month.
Ella Rooke, who is originally from Greenfield but now lives in London, will do two sets at the event, to be held at St Edward’s Parish Hall in Lees on Saturday 15 October.
She’s making the trip north to help out an old friend of hers, local accountant Richard Wyers, who will be trekking to Everest Base Camp next month.
Richard is raising money for the Break Out Project, a charity which helps homeless and abused children in the Indian city of Mumbai.
Ella and Richard go back a few years to their days playing saxophone together at the Oldham Music Centre, and later Leeds College of Music.
On the night there’ll be food available which is included in the ticket price, as well as a licensed bar and a raffle. The doors will open at 7pm.
Tickets costing £10 can be bought by ringing 07765 243145 or 01457 810666, and are also available at Choc Box in Lees. There may be some available on the door on the night, but that can’t be guaranteed, so best book in advance if you want to go!
More details of the event are on a Facebook page here.
Donations to Richard’s appeal can be made here.
