Chris Frost and Lesley Bill, both volunteers at the Community Centre, accepted a grant from the Co-Op for over £3000 from their community hand-out scheme. The money will go towards maintenance of the building and buying much needed equipment for the numerous groups that meet there each week.

Good Vibrations, a great group of lady singers, sang beautifully. The Mossley Community Drummers, played Samba music and had the shoppers bopping around the aisles. Good Vibrations meet very Thursday 7-9pm, and the drummers meet every Monday 6.45-7.45pm, both at Roughtown Community Centre, near the Church Inn  in Mossley.

Tameside Rotary collected donations from the shoppers, dressed as Father Christmas, Mrs Christmas and helpers. Although the branch has only been in existence for 2yrs, they have been very active and their work of the Rotary club can be seen here: Tameside Rotary.  Andy Williams, aka as Father Christmas, told Saddleworth News and Life : ” We’re a great group, meeting just once a month at present. We’d love some new members from Mossley as it’s a little community hub in its own right and we’re sure there’s people who’d benefit themselves from joining.”
