Local artist’s sketches map-out a way forward

I caught up with the local illustrator, Alison Levy, recently who has, like many of us, has experienced ups and downs during the last year. She has made some very positive changes to her lifestyle during the pandemic. She told me :

I’m a 26 years old and am living in Saddleworth. I specialise in illustrated maps of towns and villages in the North West.

I lost my job at the start of lockdown in 2020 and set up my own Etsy business. Locals showed a lot of interest in my illustrated maps, and I also started to offer paintings of people’s homes. This took off and it has since become my full-time job.

I now also create illustrated maps for businesses as well as individuals.

I’m hoping to attend some local craft fairs this year so I can meet people and engage with other local artists. When I’m not in my little home studio drawing you’ll find me outside walking/running in the hills, looking for inspiration for my next projects 😊.

If you would like to purchase any of Alison’s maps you can visit her Etsy shop here. She also sells her maps as postcards, a great way to stay in touch with those you’ve not seen for a while.

And you can visit her Facebook page here and Instagram page here.
