Marsden Cuckoo Festival This Weekend

The annual Marsden Cuckoo Festival begins tonight, with events taking place in the village throughout the weekend. The festival has traditionally been held to mark the arrival of spring, and the weather forecast is certainly spring-like for the next couple of days with plenty of sunshine expected.

Among tonight’s events are a Catch The Cuckoo walk, which leaves from outside the Mechanics Hall at 7pm. Tomorrow there’s a full programme of things to see and do, including street stalls and entertainment throughout the day on Peel Street, and various concerts and other demonstrations taking place in the Mechanics Hall. On Sunday, there’s a storytelling walk from the Mechanics Hall to Standedge Tunnel, starting at 1pm.

For a full list of the events check the festival’s website here.
